7 Reasons Why Even the Best Weight Loss Plan Won’t Help You Lose Weight
There are a lot of great diets out there. But there are definitely more bad diets. So how do you find the right diet and make it work? It may take a little work, but once you know what to do it's a piece of cake (without all the calories).
You don’t have the will power to stick with it
Most healthy diets work, but only if you stick with them. It can be so tempting to stop off at that fast food place that we love, or eat some junk food out of the fridge. But that won’t help you reach your ideal weight. You need to change your self-image. Maxwell Maltz described willpower as like pulling on a rubber band. Eventually you have to let go and the rubber band will go back to its original form. So instead of pulling the rubber band, change it through visualization.
You’ve built the habit of eating bad food
It’s hard to build a new habit. It’s even harder to break an old one. But following these simple rules will help you build healthy eating habits quickly and easily.
1. Habits are hard to get rid of. So replace it instead. Your brain likes patterns and consistency which makes change a challenge. So if you’re going to get rid of something in your life, then replace it to fill the void.
2. Know that eating healthy can be a chore at first. But if you can make it through 3 weeks without falling back on old habits then your chances of succeeding are much greater.
You’re refrigerator and kitchen cabinets are filled with junk food
Let the people you live with know that you plan on eating healthy and you would like their help. Then get rid of all the unhealthy food in your house and replace it with healthy alternatives. If that fast food place on the way home from work tempts you every time you drive by, then find a different route home. Little things like this can make a huge difference in your quest for healthy weight loss.
Your family, friends and peers don’t eat healthy
When you tell your friends and family that you plan on eating healthy you may inspire some of them to do the same. Form a group with those people and hold each other accountable. For those people who aren’t interested in losing weight with you, you can gently encourage them to join you (if they need it). If they’re not interested then don’t push it. Just ask them if they could help to hold you accountable also.
Hidden Calories
Be careful what you eat. Most things that we put in our mouth have calories. And some have a surprisingly large amount of calories. If you don’t know about these things, then they could seriously undermine your weight loss goals. So make a habit of reading nutrition labels. Become an expert at it and you’ll be surprised how easy it is to lose weight.
In the U.S. it’s more expensive to eat healthy than to eat junk food or fast food
The junk food and fast food industries have made it hard for us to eat healthy and lose weight. Processed foods like junk food and fast food are usually cheaper to buy than the stuff that’s good for us. But if you are on a budget, then taking a little time to prepare your meals yourself can save you a lot of money. And more importantly, they’ll help you lose unwanted pounds.
You Don’t Know What the Best Weight Loss Plan Is
Diets can be tricky. There is so much information to sift through, and so many thousands of diet books out there. So how do you find out which is the best? Listen to what other people recommend. If someone has tried a diet and it works, they’ll tell you about it. All you have to do is listen. But ultimately you have to make up your own mind.
